Speaking Task 4 · Making Predictions. A speaking task set in a pumpkin field at the end of a harvest day, where a moving trailer and an unfinished lift set up one likely outcome.

Task 4 shows the picture you have just described and asks what will happen next in it. You get 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to speak, and the whole task is carried by speculation language rather than description.

Pumpkin Field at Loading Time

An autumn pumpkin field in the late afternoon, where a small tractor towing a flatbed trailer has just begun rolling forward along the row. Two workers in muddy boots are still swinging a heavy wooden crate of pumpkins up toward the back of the moving trailer, and the crate is tilting away from them as the tailgate pulls out of their reach. The driver sits facing ahead with his back turned, and further down the rows two children carry pumpkins against their chests without looking up.
